Waiting — The Suicides, #79

Keep your head still.

Look forward, into the distance. Or, just look at the ground.

Ignore it, or pay attention to your surroundings. Focus on whatever you want, but know

that whatever you’re not seeing is more there than what is:

Waiting.

  1. I like the last line very much

I love how shifting to microstories has kept you so tightly focused on the moment. It’s producing some great stuff that I know you’ll be able to build on when you go back to playing with longer pieces.

    1. I feel like I’m learning how to shift gears; each moment has its role. Now, if I could just learn how to steer: without hitting pedestrians, tearing down parking meters, and saddle-bagging my car…well, I’ll work on that.

Truth. I like the tension here, which makes the words even more ominous.

  4. Ominous and …yummy! That fourth line is killer. Well done!

  5. kalpana solsi says:

    Waiting for an uncertainty.

  6. Jen says:

Pretty intense… that moment. What do you do? Where do you look? The waiting…. I like this piece a lot!

  7. Silverleaf says:

There is so much in every word. This is very well-crafted.

  8. Congratulations for the photo.
